Jenkins Street Will Temporarily Close Starting Monday, Feb. 5

By January 31, 2024No Comments

Jenkins Street will be temporarily closed from N. Main Street (276) to Murray Drive starting on Monday, Feb. 5. The closure is expected to last approximately four weeks, ending on March 4.

During that time, Southern Concrete and Construction will realign and rebuild Jenkins Street, turning the curved portion of the street into a T-intersection in preparation for a new railroad crossing to Murray Drive.

Access to all local businesses on Jenkins Street and Jenkins Court will be provided during the closure. Through traffic will be required to utilize detours via Murray Drive and East Butler Road as shown on the detour map here: https://cityofmauldin.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/JENKINS-STREET-DETOUR-MAP.pdf

Motorists are asked to plan accordingly and allow extra time for the detour.

The realignment of Jenkins Street is part of the City Center Village development, which includes Maverick Yards, a mixed-use project that will feature a dining and entertainment complex and more than 40 townhouses for rent. Located on 6.5 acres of land at the corner of Jenkins Street and Jenkins Court, Maverick Yards broke ground last June and is slated for completion in late 2024.
