City Council to hold public hearing on Comprehensive Plan June 15

The City of Mauldin will hold a public hearing on a new Comprehensive Plan at the City Council meeting on June 15 at 7:00 PM. This hearing will take place in the Council Chambers at Mauldin City Hall, and all are welcome to attend.

A Comprehensive Plan is a document used for guiding the future development of the City. It is based on long-term goals and objectives for the community. Once adopted, the Comprehensive Plan serves as a guide for making land use decisions, the preparation of ordinances such as the zoning ordinance and land development regulations that will be crucial to implementing the plan, and the preparation of capital improvement programs.

After various public engagement efforts and coordination with Mauldin officials, Benchmark Planning has drafted a new Comprehensive Plan for the City of Mauldin. This Plan focuses on major goal areas:

  1. Guide positive growth
  2. Create vibrant and thriving centers
  3. Expand cultural amenities
  4. Connect the community

Additionally, this Plan recommends initiatives including:

  • Regulatory alignment
  • Infrastructure investment
  • Annexation strategies
  • Maintaining a high quality of life

This Plan presents a coordinated approach to achieving the City’s vision as a vibrant and sustainable community.
