A severe winter storm is forecast to impact the Mauldin area this weekend, with the potential for snow, ice, dangerously cold temperatures and hazardous travel conditions. In the event of an ice storm, power outages are likely.
City crews are actively preparing and coordinating response efforts, and we will be sharing regular updates on social media about road closures, facility closures, service updates and available resources, so be sure to follow us and check back often for the latest information.
Residents are encouraged to prepare by doing the following:
- Protect pipes by dripping faucets, opening cabinets under sinks and covering exposed plumbing
- Ensure heating systems are working properly; use space heaters safely
- Stock up on essential supplies, including water, non-perishable food and medications
- Charge phones and have flashlights, batteries, and blankets ready
- Bring pets indoors
Please check on neighbors, especially seniors and those with medical needs. Avoid travel this weekend unless absolutely necessary and continue to monitor trusted weather sources. Stay warm and stay safe!
