Registration for Mauldin Recreation’s new co-ed adult soccer league is now open through Oct. 18. The league will run from the end of October to December, with games taking place on Monday and Wednesday nights at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at Sunset Park.
The league format is as follows:
- Open to ages 15+
- 7 vs. 7 co-ed soccer
- 8-game regular season
- Top four teams advance to a single-elimination tournament
Players can register individually or as part of a team in person at the Mauldin Sports Center, by phone at (864) 335-4853 or online at https://secure.rec1.com/SC/mauldin-sc/catalog. The registration fee is $500 for a team and $60 for an individual.
The new soccer league is part of Mauldin Recreation’s expanded lineup of adult sports programs, which includes pickleball and basketball leagues open to all skill and fitness levels. Organizers say the new programs are an opportunity for busy adults to stay active through sports, enjoy friendly competition and build community close to home.
“Our goal is to create a well-rounded recreation program that provides meaningful experiences for residents of all ages,” said Assistant Recreation Director Willie Stewart. “By expanding our adult sports offerings, we’re providing opportunities for people of different backgrounds and skill levels to connect through athletics, build relationships and enjoy recreational activities within their community.”
A co-ed adult pickleball league is currently underway, with games taking place at the Ray W. Hopkins Mauldin Senior Center, and another league is set to kick off in mid-March of 2027. Registration for the spring pickleball league opens on Feb. 1, 2027.
An adult basketball league will also begin in March of 2027, with registration opening on Feb. 1, 2027.
Organizers say the adult leagues take place in a relaxed environment with time for instruction as needed and an emphasis on helping participants create an active lifestyle.
“With Mauldin Recreation, our goal is community, so we want to bring people together and give them an opportunity to do something they enjoy, build some friendships and stay active through sports,” said Adult Programs and Community Events Coordinator Rehana Gonzalez. “We’re competing, but at the same time we’re also just having fun.”
