Landmark production runs from Aug. 15-31 at the Mauldin Cultural Center
The Mauldin Theatre Company is proud to announce its highly anticipated ninth season, themed “Season of Transformation,” which will open with the South Carolina premiere of “The Prince of Egypt,” running from Aug. 15-31 at the Mauldin Cultural Center. This landmark production signifies a new era for the company, building on its growth and artistic ambition over the past few years.
Following acclaimed undertakings including “Sweeney Todd,” “Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “A Chorus Line,” which featured a 17-piece orchestra, “The Prince of Egypt” marks another significant artistic milestone for the Mauldin Theatre Company.
“It’s always exciting to take on a production that challenges us as a theatre and team,” Theatre Manager Kristofer Parker said. “This story is so beloved by so many, and we’re thrilled that we have the opportunity to bring this show to life here in Mauldin.”
“The Prince of Egypt,” with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked”) and a book by Philip LaZebnik, is based on the Book of Exodus and features songs from the beloved 1998 DreamWorks Animation film. The musical chronicles the extraordinary life of Moses, from his upbringing as a prince of Egypt to his ultimate destiny leading the Children of Israel to freedom. The show originated as a workshop in 2015, with its first full production in 2017, and a successful West End debut in 2020.
The Mauldin Theatre Company’s 2025-26 “Season of Transformation” promises a year of innovation and artistic growth, featuring multiple premieres, six shows with a live orchestra or band, and expanded programming for the Mauldin Youth Theatre and Spotlight Series. Notably, this season expands the MainStage offerings from five to six shows.
