Mauldin Recreation will celebrate Baseball and Softball Opening Day on Saturday, April 6 at Sunset Park, located at 211 Fowler Circle in Greenville. Games will begin at 9 a.m., with four games played at a time and a total of 26 games scheduled throughout the day. The event ends at 5 p.m.
Mauldin Recreation’s Opening Day gives players, coaches and spectators the opportunity to come together as a program before the season begins. Eight softball teams and 44 baseball teams will play a game, have their players’ names announced and take pictures. Concessions and vendors will be on site to provide food and other items.
“Opening Day is a great family event for the Mauldin community,” Recreation Director Bart Cumalander said. “This is a chance for the spectators and Mauldin Recreation to recognize players and coaches in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere before the season starts.”
There is no smoking or alcohol allowed at Opening Day. Leashed dogs are allowed at the park; they must be on a six-foot leash and are not permitted on the fields during the event.
