South Carolina has much to offer with many areas that enjoy an outstanding quality of life, including a number of communities with outstanding reputations for low crime rates. The average crime rate for violent crimes in SC is 506 crimes per 100,000 residents. For property crimes, it’s 3,195 crimes per 100,000 residents. So which communities are the safest in the Palmetto State?
Five of the top ten safest cities on The Home Security Advisor’s list had fewer than 350 property crimes per 100,000 residents, and half of the cities had fewer than 50 violent crimes. Of cities with populations above 10,000, Mauldin was named the second safest city in South Carolina by The Home Security Advisor. With a population of just over 25,000 residents, Mauldin has a rate of 65 violent crimes per 100,000 residents and 409 property crimes.
