In a recent report by HomeSnacks, the City of Mauldin was ranked one of the top 10 places to live in South Carolina for 2026. Mauldin came in at number 9 statewide based on factors including schools, safety, cost of living, employment and local amenities.
According to the report, Mauldin has the 34th lowest median home price in the state at $297,318, the 33rd lowest unemployment rate in the state at 4.9% and one of the highest median incomes in South Carolina at $82,331/year.
The list also recognized Mauldin for its safety, noting that the city’s crime rate is below the national average, with a majority of crimes reported being property-related.

HomeSnacks analyzed 63 communities in South Carolina with populations of more than 5,000 using publicly available data from the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI Crime Data and Zillow. Communities were evaluated on nine categories, including median home values, household income, unemployment, commute times, crime, education, health insurance coverage and poverty rates.
