The Mauldin Police Department has arrested Darren Kyle Baer, 51, address unknown, in connection with a double homicide on Ashby Park Lane. Baer has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a gun/knife during a violent crime. Baer was apprehended in Easley with assistance from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, October 23 at 6:34 p.m., the Mauldin Police Department received a call requesting a welfare check at a home on Ashby Park Lane. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found two deceased individuals inside the house.
On Tuesday, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled both deaths homicides. On Thursday, the coroner’s office identified the female victim as 69-year-old Janice L. Casey. The male victim has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.
