The Mauldin Police Department has arrested Nikkolas David Napoleon Harden, 22, of Mauldin in connection with the fatal shooting of Kareem Levar Brice, 44, of Spartanburg on Feb. 1. Harden has been charged with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Mauldin Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant on Feb. 12 and was able to take Harden into custody without incident. He was held on a temporary commitment overnight at the Greenville County Detention Center and officially charged today.

Harden and Brice had met on Feb. 1, and after a verbal altercation, Harden is accused of shooting Brice in the head and fleeing the scene.

On Feb. 2, the Mauldin Police Department received calls reporting a person unresponsive in a vehicle in the parking lot of 288 Old Mill Rd in Mauldin. MPD arrived on scene to find Brice suffering from visible trauma. First responders arrived on scene and pronounced Brice dead. The Greenville County Coroner’s Office ruled Brice’s death a homicide.

Harden’s bond hearing was held at 3 pm today, and he was denied bond.

This remains an active investigation by the Mauldin Police Department.
