Mauldin Police Department Hosting 3 Events to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina

The Mauldin Police Department will host three upcoming events to benefit Special Olympics South Carolina: a Polar Plunge on Feb. 21, a Jeep Jam on March 7 and a Gold Medal Gala on May 14. All proceeds from the events benefit the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a grassroots fundraising organization whose mission is to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics.

“These fundraisers are about showing up for athletes who inspire us every day,” said Sgt. Harley Sefcik, who is organizing the events. “Every dollar raised helps Special Olympics athletes train, compete and reach their full potential. We’re proud to stand with them and invite everyone to join us in supporting a great cause.”

Event details are below:

Greenville County Rec Polar Plunge

Saturday, Feb. 21 | 3 pm – 5 pm
7th Inning Splash Waterpark

The Polar Plunge invites participants to get Freezin’ for a Reason by plunging into the icy waters of the waterpark. This high-energy event features a costume contest, music and awards given to the highest fundraisers. Media are invited to participate and compete to see who can raise the most money for Special Olympics South Carolina; the media outlet that raises the most money will be crowned the Coldest Crew Award.

Those who prefer to stay warm and dry on the sidelines can still participate as “Virtual Plungers” to support the cause.

All proceeds raised will benefit Special Olympics South Carolina to help provide year-round sports training and competition for athletes. View the Facebook event here.

Trail-Gate Jeep Jam Show and Shine

Saturday, March 7 | 8 am – 12 pm
Via Corso Ave, Simpsonville

At this premier Jeep-only event, participants will enjoy a day of “trail-gating,” showing off their rigs and connecting with fellow enthusiasts. The event will include a raffle and awards including “Best in Show Wrangler,” “Best in Show Gladiator,” “Most Muddy Jeep” and “Athlete’s Favorite.” All proceeds from registration and event t-shirts go directly toward providing year-round sports training and competition for Special Olympics athletes. The fundraising season culminates in an evening of elegance and inspiration. The Gold Medal Gala presented by Sauer Brands is a formal celebration that brings together law enforcement, local business leaders and Special Olympics athletes to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s mission of inclusion and empowerment. The night features fine dining, dancing, auctions and powerful stories of triumph.
