Mauldin Middle School wins new fitness center worth $100,000

Governor Henry McMaster was one of the special guests at a ribbon cutting for a new DON’T QUIT fitness center at Mauldin Middle School.

Hundreds of schools in South Carolina competed to win a brand new $100,000 fitness center. The National foundation for Governors’s Fitness Councils selected Mauldin Middle as a National Fitness Champion.

The school is being recognized for demonstrating leadership in student fitness.

Present at the ribbon cutting were Councilman Taft Matney, Greenville County School Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster, Mayor Dennis Raines, Governor Henry McMaster, Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils Jake Steinfeld, Mauldin Middle School Principle Chris Kilian

The fitness center was financed through public and private partnerships with companies like The Coca-Cola Company, Anthem Foundation, Wheels Up and Nike.
