Mauldin Fire Department Launches Opioid Response Program

The Mauldin Fire Department has launched the Opioid Response Program, a new initiative focused on increasing awareness, providing education and connecting residents with resources to help prevent opioid misuse and save lives.

Led by Opioid Risk Coordinator Sam Garrison, the program is designed to help community members better understand the risks associated with opioids, recognize the signs of an overdose and learn how to access local prevention, treatment and recovery resources.

“Through this program, we hope to provide residents with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions, support those in need and help save lives,” Garrison said.

The program includes community outreach, educational opportunities and partnerships with local organizations to expand access to prevention and recovery resources throughout Mauldin. Services offered include:

  • Educational presentations on substance use disorders
  • Distribution of harm reduction supplies to at-risk individuals and organizations
  • Training on how to recognize and respond to an overdose

If you need assistance, please contact Sam Garrison at (864) 630-6448 or sgarrison@mauldinfire.com.
