By February 19, 2021No Comments

The Mauldin Cultural Center has revealed its 2021-2022 Theatre Season, which runs from August 2021 to May 2022. The season includes two Mauldin Youth Theatre productions, two musical revues, one Mauldin Theatre Company production, and a “Shakespeare in the Park”-style production. The lineup was shared during a Reveal Show in February with songs from each production sung by local artists, each of whom have performed on stage at the Cultural Center in the past.

The Mauldin Youth Theatre’s fall production will be Sister Act, JR. from November 5-14, 2021, followed by their spring show Newsies, JR. from March 25-April 10, 2022. The Mauldin Theatre Company will have two musical revues and a theatrical production during the next season including: In The Mood, a big band musical revue from August 6-15, 2021; Hooray for Holidays, a variety concert celebrating holidays throughout the year, from December 3-12, 2021; and Something Rotten! from May 13-22, 2022. Tickets for each show will be $15 plus processing fees, and will be available for purchase approximately two months before opening night.

The Cultural Center will also feature a MCC Shakes! production, Antony & Cleopatra, which will be performed as a “Shakespeare in the Park”-style show in the Mauldin Outdoor Amphitheater. This production will be free of charge to attendees and will take place April 22 – 23, 2022.

The Mauldin Cultural Center began hosting theatrical productions in 2017, with the Mauldin Youth Theatre’s inaugural production of Disney’s The Lion King, JR. The Mauldin Youth Theatre has found growing support, with two shows a year typically performing to sold-out crowds. The Mauldin Theatre Company and MCC Shakes! will both host their inaugural productions in spring 2021.

Tickets for all theatrical productions at the Mauldin Cultural Center can be found online at mauldinculturalcenter.org. The Cultural Center’s next show will be the Mauldin Youth Theatre’s production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda, JR. on April 9-25, 2021.

The Mauldin Youth Theatre, the Mauldin Theatre Company, and MCC Shakes! all hold auditions for anyone in the community who is interested, regardless of experience.

Due to COVID-19, capacity for all indoor events at the Mauldin Cultural Center are limited to 50% until further notice. Every other seat of each row will be left empty and unavailable to purchase to allow room for social distancing between patrons. All guests and staff are required to wear masks and have their temperature checked at the door.
