On Monday, Feb. 19, City Council voted 4-3 to name the pedestrian walkway over I-385 the Mauldin Gateway Bridge. The new name will be featured on a commemorative plaque for the bridge.

The Mauldin Gateway Bridge will serve as a major connection point in the City, linking the BridgeWay Station development with the greater Mauldin community and eventually connecting to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Pedestrians will be able to access the bridge through the Mauldin City Trail, a 0.25-mile paved trail located on East Butler Road across from Mauldin High School.

The City of Mauldin partnered with BridgeWay Station developer Hughes Investments, Inc. to create the bridge, and construction began in June of 2022. More information about the pedestrian bridge is available here.
