City of Mauldin to Host Third Annual Juneteenth Celebration on June 20

The City of Mauldin will host its third annual Juneteenth celebration presented by Truliant Federal Credit Union on Saturday, June 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center outdoor amphitheater. The free, family-friendly event will feature an outdoor market, food trucks, beer and wine from Traveling Taps, historical exhibits, children’s activities and live performances from local artists as well as headliner Fly Fidelity. The event is intended to be an uplifting celebration of Black history and culture for all community members to enjoy.

“More than 2,100 people came together for our Juneteenth Celebration last year, breaking attendance records for a single-day event in Mauldin,” said Kristofer Parker, Theatre Manager at the Mauldin Cultural Center. “This truly highlights how deeply our community values culture. I am incredibly proud to be part of a city that not only welcomes but actively celebrates diversity the way Mauldin does.”

In November of 2023, Mauldin City Council unanimously voted to adopt Juneteenth as a City holiday beginning in 2024, and staff made plans for the City’s first Juneteenth Celebration in 2024.

The second annual Juneteenth Celebration in 2025 broke records as the most-attended single-day event in the City’s history, with more than 2,000 attendees.

“Mauldin’s Juneteenth Celebration is an opportunity to bring the people of Mauldin together,” Mayor Terry Merritt said. “We are proud to host an event that honors the legacy of Juneteenth while creating a space for our community to connect, celebrate and learn.”

The historical component of this year’s celebration will include an educational tent sponsored by Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church. The tent will feature five interactive stations highlighting Black history and the history of Juneteenth, as well as a documentary screening, quilt-making activities and giveaways.
