The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has announced that the City of Mauldin has been awarded for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2020. The Award, which is the City’s first, is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.
“It is always an honor to be recognized by the GFOA for the City’s excellence in financial management and reporting,” said City Finance & Policy Chairperson Michael Reynolds. “Providing residents with information on how their tax dollars are managed in an easy to read format is vitally important,” added Reynolds.
The award represents a significant achievement by the City. In order to be eligible for the PAFR award, the City had to also submit its Comprehensive Annual Financial (CAFR) Report to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellent in Financial Reporting Program and receive the Certificate. Under the guidance of Finance Director Holly Abercrombie, the City’s CAFR and PAFR are both prepared and submitted to GFOA following the end of each fiscal year.
“Fiscal stewardship is one of the guiding principles of the City’s operations, and this award is a result of the commitment of City Council and City staff to being good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said Mayor Terry Merritt.
In addition to the CAFR and PAFR, earlier this year the GFOA awarded the City of Mauldin with its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award based on the City’s 2020-2021 fiscal year budget.
