The Mauldin Police Department will host National Night Out 2024 on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mauldin Cultural Center outdoor amphitheater at 101 E. Butler Rd. The annual event will feature free food and beverages, music and a variety of family-friendly activities designed to enhance relationships between police officers and community members. Special guests will include the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Greenville Triumph and The Blood Connection.
“Our goal is to create a positive and fun environment for neighbors to be able to interact with the police officers that protect this community,” said Lt. James Madden, who organized the event for the fourth year in a row. “This is a great opportunity for community members to get to know and establish bonds with police department members of all ranks and divisions. We’ll have representatives from Patrol, Investigations, the School Resource Division, Special Response Team, K-9 Team and Community Division attending the event and available to interact with our community.”
Guests will have the opportunity to meet local law enforcement officers in a casual setting and enjoy fun for the whole family, including a petting zoo, face painting, bounce houses, balloon art and a chalk zone. There will also be police vehicles and fire trucks on site, a K-9 demonstration, and DUI and fire education.
Music will be provided by DJ Super Joe of The Edge Entertainment, and free hot dogs, soda, chips, shaved ice, cotton candy and popcorn will be available while supplies last.
“Public safety and building community relationships is a top priority for the City of Mauldin,” said Council Member and Public Safety Committee Chair Carol King. “Under the leadership of Lt. Madden, we continue to recognize the importance of having our first responders out interacting with our community throughout the year. National Night Out is an annual event that allows our officers another opportunity to interact with members of our community in a fun and positive environment. We look forward to seeing everyone out for another amazing NNO on the first Tuesday of August.”
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
