The Mauldin Police Department is scheduled for a virtual reassessment to verify that it continues to comply with best practices and internationally accepted professional law enforcement standards.
This reassessment will be administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®). The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session to be held on October 05, 2021, starting at 5:00 p.m. and ending after the last speaker is heard. The session will be conducted via Zoom with the assessors. This public information session will be held at Mauldin City Hall, 5 East Butler Road, Mauldin, SC 29662 in the City Council Chambers/Court Room.
If for some reason an individual cannot speak at the public information session but would still like to provide comments to the assessment team, he/she may do so by telephone. The public may call (864) 404-3281 on October 05, 2021, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. All comments will be taken by CALEA Assessors.
Telephone comments and appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the department’s ability to comply with CALEA Standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Mauldin Police Department. Any person wishing to view these standards should contact Sergeant Charles Osborne at (864) 289-8952 or by email at cosborne@mauldinpolice.com.
