Mauldin Police Department Detective Jenna Willson has received the SHIELD Award from Crime Stoppers of Greenville for solving a cold case from 2020.

Detective Willson received the award at a banquet on Sept. 11 for her relentless efforts to solve the 2020 death of Alex Andrea Liddy. Alex Liddy was found deceased in her apartment at 10 Moore St. in Mauldin on Feb. 11, 2020. Through the autopsy report by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Alex’s death was ruled a homicide.

Detective Willson began investigating Alex’s death in September of 2023, and as a result of her efforts, she was able to make an arrest last month; Derek M. Williams, 44, of Greenville, was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.

Congratulations to Detective Willson on this well-deserved recognition.
