As the City works to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene, we’re committed to providing the latest information and resources for community members affected by this storm. Here’s what to know as cleanup and recovery efforts continue:
General Information
- As of Wednesday, Oct. 2, all City facilities — including City Hall, the Mauldin Cultural Center, the Mauldin Sports Center and the Ray W. Hopkins Senior Center — have reopened.
- As of Monday, Oct. 7, the Sports Center does not have internet.
- All City parks and playgrounds are OPEN.
- As of Tuesday, Oct. 8, the David Bates Greenway trail is OPEN to the public.
- As of Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Public Works Department has picked up 425 TONS of storm debris.
- There are public charging stations available in the lobby of City Hall and at the Senior Center. The charging stations may be used for electronics as well as medical devices such as nebulizers.
Trash & Recycling
- As of Monday, Oct. 7, recycling and trash are being picked up on a normal schedule.
Storm Debris
- Storm debris will continue to be picked up on the zone schedule. The City is utilizing existing staff as well as a local debris removal provider to help expedite the process. Please make sure to place debris along the edge of the roadway but out of the road.
- Residents utilizing private contracting for tree cutting and debris cleaning should ensure their contractor properly disposes of that debris.
Roads
- Public Works reports that as of 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, all roads are open and accessible in the City, and the Mauldin Fire Department reports that all roads are open and accessible in the Fire Service Area.
Power
- As of Monday, Oct. 7, power has been restored to the vast majority of the City, with very few outages remaining.
Activities & Events
- The Friday Night Flicks showing of “Encanto” on Oct. 11 will be held in the Mauldin Cultural Center auditorium. Showtime begins at 7 p.m. and Havana Taste will be on hand for some authentic Cuban cuisine in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Community Resources
- A Major Disaster Declaration was approved for Greenville County for both Individual and Public Assistance. You can apply for FEMA disaster assistance at www.disasterassistance.gov , call 1-800-621-3362 or download the FEMA app.
- If denied, residents are encouraged to take their reference number and call FEMA. There may be a missing piece of information that led to the claim denial.
- As of Monday, Oct. 7, the Red Cross emergency shelter is located at Mauldin Methodist Church.
- Walmart on Woodruff Rd has set up free clothes washing stations and showers for the public.
- As cleanup continues, we encourage you to report your damage through the SC Emergency Manager App. You can find it in the App Store or Google Play. This will help with the county’s and state’s damage assessment and request for federal assistance.
- For help with damage cleanup, call Crisis Cleanup at 844-965-1386. Volunteers may be able to assist with mucking out, cleaning up trees, tarping roofs and clearing debris. All services are free. Service is not guaranteed.
- For more information on resources, call 864-467-3428 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- For any immediate needs, call the United Way at 211.
Donation Opportunities
- United Way of Greenville County is collecting non-perishable food, water and supplies (diapers, formula, hygiene products, cleaning supplies) to disperse to those in need.

- Runway Cafe at the Greenville Downtown Airport continues to accept donations of non-perishable food and supplies to fly into WNC. *They are in need of additional planes, helicopters or box trucks to deliver supplies.*
